THERAPEUTIC treatments
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
A general term for a range of therapies that emphasize the role of thinking and self-awareness in a person’s thoughts, actions, and emotions. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy focuses on identifying and rectifying maladaptive thinking patterns, and encompasses features of cognitive therapy, rational behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic approaches.
Client-Centered Therapy
As its name implies, client-centered therapy places significant focus on the client. A core tenet of client-centered therapy is that people are inclined to move toward healing and growth; thus, the role of the client-centered therapist is to establish an atmosphere in which the client can discover the answers and solutions that he or she has been looking for.
Reality Therapy
A therapeutic approach that focuses on problem solving and making better choices in order to achieve specific goals. The goal of reality therapy is to solve problems, rebuild connections and begin working toward a better future.
Solution- Focused Therapy
Concentrating on what’s already working to effect the most rapid and desirable changes.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
A very specific, technology-based approach that can be especially effective for people whose sense of direction has been blocked by traumatic life experiences.
Psychodynamic Perspectives
Learning about the past so we can essentially leave it behind and move toward brighter presents and futures.
Family Systems Therapy
Discovering how each member of the system contributes to the overall system’s sense of direction and satisfaction.
